Obituary for Michael Lee Euler

Michael L. Euler, 45, of Salem, Virginia, previously of Charleston, WV, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Carrington Place, Daleville, Virginia, lovingly surrounded by his family. Mike is survived by his parents, Robert K. and Nadine Roush Euler, his sister and husband, Lori A. and E. Gerald “Jerry” Stump, his nephew and wife, Jacob M. and Sarah Butler Stump, his niece, Danielle E. Stump, nephew Luke J. Stump all of Catawba and many, many cousins who were like brothers and sisters. Mike’s presence will be sadly missed by all but the knowledge that he is in Heaven with his baby brother Keith and Grandpas, Henry and Harold, and Grandmas, Ethel (Romine) and Margery (Hill), provides the joy to overcome the sadness. Mike was born September 5, 1965, in Charleston, West Virginia. He grew up in the small community of Pinch near Charleston. He attended Pinch-Quick Elementary, Elkview Junior High, and Herbert Hoover High Schools. Mike enlisted in the West Virginia Air National in 1984 and served there until 1990. He graduated in 1988 from Glenville State College with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and an Associate in surveying. In January, 1989, Mike was employed by a consulting firm, Gloeckner & Osborne, in Charlottesville, Virginia. After approximately three weeks, he was severely hurt in an on-the-job vehicle accident, which resulted in a traumatic brain injury, complete hearing loss, and paraplegia. Mike spent the next four and a half years in hospitals and rehabilitation facilities in several states. He returned to Charleston, WV, in 1993, and was employed by the WV Division of Highways and settled into his journey to make a life for himself. For 12 years, Mike lived independently in West Virginia, while working fulltime, exercising at the gym, doing his own grocery shopping, and attending church at Mt. Tabor United Methodist in Pinch, WV, every Sunday, where his expressed love of and faith in God were astounding. In 2005, Mike moved with his father and mother to Virginia to be closer to his sister and her family. He loved his new house and his job at Humphrey, Stump & Haynie Insurance. He enjoyed going to the gym at Salem Fitness where he had many friends, shopping at Wal-Mart where he always had assistants, and especially attending Catawba Valley Baptist Church every Sunday where he had found many brothers and sisters in Christ. Funeral services will be conducted at 6 pm on Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with Rev. Chris Kingery officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 pm and following the service until 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be made on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Letart Falls Cemetery in Racine, OH. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.johnmoakey.com. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mike’s name to the Catawba Valley Baptist Church, PO Box 12, Catawba, VA 24070 or to a church or charity of choice. John M. Oakey and Son, Salem is serving the Euler Family. 540-389-5441.
