Catherine (Kitty ) McCourt Hunter Murray ,87, of Salem and Roanoke, was called home to the Lord with bagpipes playing, on Friday August 26, 2016. Catherine was born in 1929 and raised in Greenoak, Scotland. Later in life, Catherine became a citizen of the United States of America. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bridget Hunter of Scotland; siblings, Albert Hunter and his wife, Hillary of Canada, Mary Pattee and her husband, Ricky of Idaho, James Hunter, John Hunter, Tommy Hunter, Jean Hunter, and Betty Smith of England; and brother-in-law, Jim Wilson of Scotland. Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Margaret Wilson of Scotland; brother, Allen Hunter of England; her daughter, Kathleen St.Clair of Roanoke, VA; adopted daughter, Kathleen Fitzpatrick of Salem, VA; and granddaughter, Hannah Moran Salem, VA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who live all over the world. Catherine had a wonderful friend who the loved and adored her, the family would like to say a special thank you to Linda Barnes the many years of friendship. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday September 3, 2016 at The Jane Morgan Harris Chapel at Richfield Retirement Center with Chaplin Gary Kingery residing the service. Family will receive visitors a hour prior to the service.
