Thomas Munsey Robertson, Sr., 81, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016.

He was born on Friday, December 21, 1934 in Giles County to the late Harry Thomas and Georgia Munsey Robertson. He graduated from Jefferson High School. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree from Lynchburg College and later a Master’s Degree from VCU. He served in the Army National Guard. Along with his first wife, JoAnn, who preceded him in death, he founded Robertson Marketing that now employs more than 150 people across the U.S. and Canada. He enjoyed playing tennis as well as watching all types of sports. He also delighted in his grandchildren’s many activities and accomplishments. He was active in Westhampton Christian Church where he served as an elder, and generously supported many charities in the community.

His surviving family includes his wife, Joyce G. Robertson; children, Thomas M. Robertson, Jr. and wife, Margaret, John H. Robertson and wife, Deborah, and David W. Robertson and wife, Kathryn; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Ian, Alexander, Phillip, Joseph, and Isaac; sister, Wanda R. Aleshire and husband, H. Steward; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, also in the chapel, with Rev. Jim Crockett officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
