Obituary for Harry Robert McCoy Jr.
Harry Robert “Bob” McCoy, Jr., 82, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016. He was born in Independence, VA to the late Harry R., Sr. and Ruby Phipps McCoy. Bob proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the Marine Corp. He spent a lengthy career with Brunswick, followed by over a decade at Plastics One until he retired.
Family left to cherish his memory include his wife of 27 years, Lucette A. McCoy; children, Sheryl (Brett) McCoy Gray, of Lexington, KY, Valerie (Steve) Skripak, of Blacksburg, VA, Sonia Gerald, of Salem, VA, Dale (Janet) Slusher, of Natural Bridge Station, VA, and Stephanie (Jeff) Farnsworth, of Concord, NC; siblings, Nell (Mike) Savopoulos, of Maryland, David (Millie) McCoy, of Florida; grandchildren, Carly and Dana Skripak, Megan Gerald, Ben Slusher, and Reese Farnsworth.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Brookdale in Salem, for the wonderful care, love and support they have given for the past 5 years.
The family will hold a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Shriners Hospital (Office of Development, Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607).
