Condolences

Condolence From: Anne C. Cox
Condolence: My heartfelt condolences go out to the members of Reva Weeks’ family.

How I met Reva:

Even though my father was Reva’s first cousin, we never met until July 2004. In July 2003 my mother passed away. My father was heartbroken. That is what prompted me to suggest to my father that we make the trip (from NJ to VA) to visit his birth place and his remaining family.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a large gathering of people. I did not realize my father had such an extended family. It is here that I first met Reva and Harry Weeks. Reva made a big impression: her enthusiasm and love for VA were contagious. During our three-day stay we shared many moments of laughter, especially when we drove through a cow pasture.

I was further impressed by Reva’s total dedication to tracing her family history. She was an excellent correspondent and tireless in her quest for genealogical information. I have many photos of our family reunion and all bring back happy memories.

I regret that we were never able to meet again. I will always remember the kindness she showed my father, who unfortunately passed away several months later. I am happy we made the trip and met all those wonderful people. This trip was so important for my father.

Thank you, Reva, for your warm welcome. It was a pleasure to finally meet you.

With fond memories,

Anne C. Cox
