Obituary for George Ray Hamlin

George Ray Hamlin, 27, of Salem, departed this life and found peace with the Lord on Thursday, November 13, 2014.

He was born in Radford, VA and grew up in Blacksburg. He most recently resided in Salem. He is the loving son of Cindy Graves and Bruce Hamlin, both of the New River Valley. George was an avid baseball player during his high school years for Blacksburg High School. He attended college at New River Community College. He was a valued employee at Log Home Artisan, Inc. George loved being in the outdoors, especially if he was hunting or fishing.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by the light of his life, 3 year old son, Ethan. George loved nothing more in life than spending time with his son. He is also survived by Grandparents, Sammey and Viola Graves; Aunt, Debbie Harms and her husband Steven; Uncles Charlie Graves, and Gary Graves and his wife Sharon, as well as several cousins. He will be greatly missed by his entire family, co-workers and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 5:30 PM till 7:30 PM at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Roanoke Rescue Mission, PO Box 11525 Roanoke, VA 24022.
