Obituary for Carolyn Lee Slough Baker (Slough)

Carolyn Lee Slough Baker, 74, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014. She was born on March 6, 1940 in Salem, Va. Mrs. Baker graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in the class of 1958. She was a very fashionable person and was always known for how nicely dressed she was. She was a member of First Christian Church of Salem where she will certainly be missed. Above all, she will be forever remembered as a very loving wife, daughter and friend to many. Preceding her in death includes her father, Harold L. Slough; and step-father, Avery Allen. Family remaining to cherish her memory includes her husband, Clarence Eugene Baker; mother, Margaret Lee Allen; aunts, Dorothy Slough and Lucille Walker; brother-in-law, James Baker; sister-in-law, Colleen Sarver and husband, Virgil; and lifelong friends, Betty Mowbray, Barbara Brookman and Joyce Richardson. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Funeral services to honor Mrs. Baker’s life will be conducted on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Dan Netting officiating.
