Obituary for Letha JoAnn Holdren (Holdren)

Letha JoAnn Holdren, 50, originally of Troutville, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 after battling a long fight with cancer over the last four years. Mom beat the doctor’s odds numerous times and was considered a medical miracle by the medical industry standard. She was, and always has been, one to put up a good fight and was never a stranger to hard work. When she was able, she enjoyed putting in a hard day’s work and never liked the idea of just sitting around. Mom was also known by all her knew her as a short lady with a loud mouth. She enjoyed family trips to Daytona Beach for times of vacation and thoroughly enjoyed Nascar racing. Above all she will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, as she loved spending time with family.
Ms. Holdren was born on July 28, 1964 to the late Frank Holdren and Stella Ross. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Madisyn Floyd. Family remaining to cherish her memory includes her life-long partner, James Curtis Floyd; daughters, Alicia Davison and husband, Will, and Kayla Holdren and boyfriend, Matt; step-son, Sean Floyd; step-daughter, Summer Floyd; 9 grandchildren; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Memorial services will be announced at a later date by John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.johnmoakey.com
