Mary Anna "Mitzi"  Panny
Maria Anna “Mitzi” Panny, 94, of Salem and formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Mitzi was the daughter of Mary and Joseph Panny. Born in Austria on November 12, 1923, Mitzi immigrated through Ellis Island, NY in 1926. She lived most of her adult life in Brooklyn, NY working in a brokerage firm on Wall Street. Upon retirement, she moved to Salem, VA in 1988. She is survived by cousin and godson, Frank Tellian, M.D. and wife, Linda; as well as extended family, Robert, Janet, Jessica, and Ashely Michael; George, Ginny, and Terri Benson; and Mark, Tricia, Will, and Gabe Reynolds. She will be missed by many! A period of visitation will be held from 3 until 5 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 and Sunday, January 21, 2018 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Salem.
