Obituary for Archibald Gray Smith III
Smith, Archibald G. III “Smitty”, 84, of Elliston, Virginia went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2016 following a brief illness.
He had a passion for animals and gardening. He enjoyed many days after retirement from Pepsi at the farmer’s market in Salem selling produce and meeting new friends. He served our country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged.
He was the son of Archibald G. Smith Jr and Mary Ellen Johnston Smith. Other family members included 2 sisters and multiple nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are family members Tim, Kristie, and Addison Long along with multiple nieces and nephews out of state.
Arrangements handled by John M. Oakey and Son Salem. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
