Obituary for Henry Stephen "Steve" White

Henry Stephen “Steve” White, 65, of Salem, went to his eternal reward on April 11, 2016. He would have loved to stay longer with his greatest love, his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruth White, and his sister, Faye White Goad. Surviving him are his loving wife, Mary Beth, and son Bradley Stephen; sisters Sandra Howell (Paul) and Karen Woolwine (Richard); brother-in-law Casey Cash, and many affectionate nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Steve served in the US Navy for 4 years and was a graduate of VWCC. He was a long term employee of ITT (now Harris Corp). Some of his favorite interests were Formula I racing, football, and the VIR raceway. Steve possessed natural engineering and mechanical talents and happily shared his expertise with anyone needing help. He loved many types of music, and was becoming a more accomplished amateur guitarist.

Mary Beth has treasured memories of their recent anniversary trip to Italy last October. Steve fell in love with the country and wanted them to return someday. Steve was a devoted husband and father, loving brother, and a good neighbor, always ready to lend assistance. His loss is immeasurable to those who loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Rick Elmore will officiate. Interment will follow at East Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, this evening, Thursday, April 14 at the funeral home. An online guest book is available for family and friends by visiting www.johnmoakey.com.
