Obituary for Wayne Ronald Oliver

Wayne Ronald Oliver, 75, of Christiansburg, died on Wednesday, December 25, 2013. He was born on December 30, 1937 in Cedar Rapids, IA and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1960. His surviving family includes a special friend and caretaker, Darlene Oliver Hawley of Salem; brother, Orval (Nip) Oliver of Coolidge, AZ; sister, Kathy Gerber of Cedar Falls, IA; children, Jeffery Allen Oliver and wife, Lora, of Elliston and Diane Lynn Stuart and friend, Darrel, of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Christopher Lee Stuart of Salem, Zachery Allen Oliver of Elliston, Emily Logan Oliver of Salem, and Michaela Lee Johnson of Elliston; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 9 to 10 a.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A memorial service celebrating Wayne’s life will then begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at East Hill Cemetery. The Oliver family is being served by John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home and Crematory in Salem, 540-389-5441.
