Yvonne Akers 'Bonnie' Garman

Yvonne Bonnie Akers Garman, 64 of Salem, passed away on Friday, October 05, 2012. She was born on September 7, 1948 to the late Kester and Rosa Akers in Blacksburg, Va. Mrs. Garman will be remembered for 23 years of dedicated and faithful service to her employment at Apex Industrial Equipment, Salem, Va. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and someone who thought of herself as a true country girl. She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Jerry Garman; son Chris Allen & wife Danae; daughter, Yvette Allen (Beth Anderson), step-daughter, Ginny Crockett; grandchildren, Hunter and Harlee, step-grandchildren, Caleb, Aaron, and Kayli; step-great-grandchild, Ryliegh; half brother, Jackie Davis; and loving dog, Buckey. A period of visitation will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem from 6 until 8 p.m. A funeral service to honor Mrs. Garmans life will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Internment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.
