Ya Shien (Lui) Weng, age 88, of Salem, peacefully departed this life late Wednesday night, October 28, 2015. She was born on April 20, 1927 in Zhou Shan, Zhe Jiang, China. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ah Hwai David Weng. Her surviving family left to cherish her memory includes her daughter, Tina Weng and her husband, Phillip Darnall of Salem, VA; sons, Daniel Weng of Salem, VA and Hoping Wang of Vienna, VA; grandchildren, Hallie Darnall and Chase Darnall of Salem as well as other grandchildren. Ya Shien and David Weng began the Shanghai Chinese Restaurant in 1979 and developed one of the finest Chinese restaurants in Southwest Virginia. The Weng family would like to recognize Johnny Vasquez and Jose Gosman for their help with the restaurant. Ya Shien was a long-standing member of the Chinese Society. The family would like to extend an extra special thanks to Snyder Nursing Home for their hospitality and compassion. The Shanghai Chinese Restaurant would like to thank their customers for all their continued support and thoughtfulness in Mrs. Wengs passing. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015 in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m., Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Weng family is being served by John M.
