Wilma A. Brown, 86, of Salem, left this world to join her husband, William D. Brown, in their heavenly home, on Friday December 20, 2013. Wilma was a daughter to the late William and Effie Banks and along with her husband, and parents, she is preceded in death by, seven siblings, Ambrose, Donald, Lee, Wayne, Alma, Letha, and Pauline Banks. Wilma worked many years as an LPN at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and later switched to private care, she loved taking care of others. She will be remembered as a caring person who enjoyed crocheting, making her wonderful homemade biscuits, and a hard worker. Left behind to cherish her memories are four sons; William Brown and wife Shelby, Jerry Brown, Gene Brown, Danny Brown and wife Sue, one daughter; Brenda Simpson and husband Roger, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; along with a host of other family and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday December 22, 2013 from 2 pm until 5 pm at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, and a funeral service to honor the life of Wilma A. Brown will take place on Monday December 23, 2013 at 2 pm in the Abbey Chapel at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, with Rev. Ben Mewald officiating.
