Willie Cline Newman

Willie Cline Newman, 89, of Salem, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lewis and Viola Cresey Newman; wife, Nancy Miller Newman; sons, Timmy and David Newman; and eight siblings. He is a veteran, having served his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed spending time outdoors watching the birds and animals. Family left to cherish his memory include his children, Donna Weimer and husband Brad, Joanne Starkloff and husband Howard, and Henry Newman and wife Carol; siblings, Maggie Garlick and husband Jimmy, Richard Newman, Linda Whitmore, Barbara Hayes and husband Bobby, and Eddie Newman and wife Dolores; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Virginia Veterans Care Center for their love and care. A memorial service to honor Willies life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2015 in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem.
