Bush, Willie (George W., Jr.), 58, A Rock and Roll Legend of Salem, VA Passed away Wednesday, February 08, 2012. Willie is survived by his devoted wife, Patsy Bush; daughter, Katie Doll Bush; parents, George W. Bill Bush, Sr. and Betty Bush; sister, Peggy Garland and her husband, George; niece, Lucinda Rush; and nephews, Jerry Rush and Wayne Garland. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Cheyenne Gordon. Willie was retired from the City of Salem. He earned his first musical dollar at age thirteen, Willie has seen pop culture from the bandstand in the sixties, the seventies, eighties, nineties and into the new century. He has played in Europe and all up and down the East coast. He traveled and worked for the USO entertaining the troops in Iceland and at several bases stateside. He was an active member of the Salem Senior Mountain Pickers. The group of local musicians play and sing regularly at the Salem Health and Rehabilitation Center, Snyder Nursing Home and the Salem Senior Center. Willie also played the piano for many funerals at John M. Oakey and Son in Salem. Willie was most happiest playing the piano or banjo and took pleasure knowing the people he was playing for enjoyed the music and were having a good time. A celebration of Willies life will be held at 1 pm Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home in Salem. Following the service the family invites all of Willies friends to visit and share stories of his life. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donating your time or talents in music with those who are less fortunate. John M. Oakey and Son, Salem is serving the Bush family. 540-389-5441
