William Edward Womack William Edward Womack of Salem, VA passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the age of 83. He was born May 28, 1927 in Botetourt County, VA son of the late Spurgeon and Mary Mattie Brickey Womack. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Mae Francisco Womack. Mr. Womack was a member and a deacon emeritus of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a Past Master Mason at both Taylor Lodge #23 and the Boone Lodge #247. He retired from VDOT after 32 years of service. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Janice Louise Womack; daughter, Mary Frances Helms and husband, James R. Helms, Jr.; step-son, Anthony Ingram; step-daughter, Sybil Lambert; granddaughter, Ruth Carter and her husband, Michael Carter; grandsons, Jim Helms, Josh Ingram and Ben Lambert; great-grandchildren, Channing, Kayla and Elisha Carter and Noah Helms; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Monday, December 27, 2010 at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son with Pastor Kevin Wirt and Danny Sprouse officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
