William Henry Robinson, Jr., 92, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 28, 2013.
He was born in Addor, NC, a son of the late William and Melva Robinson and had been an area resident for over 40 years. A United States Navy veteran of WWII, he graduated from the College of William and Mary with a Bachelor of Science degree and was a Christian Employment Counselor for over 35 years. Bill was a long time and active member of the Grandin Court Baptist Church, held memberships in Kiwanis, Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Appalachian Trail Club and enjoyed hiking, camping, square dancing, singing and reading. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters, and his former wife, Anita.
He is survived by a son, David J. Robinson; his daughter, Cathy Manning and her husband Perry; grandchildren, Justin, Nathaniel, Brittany and Chris Manning and his wife Courtney, and Jamey Scott Robinson, as well as two great-grandchildren, Savannah Robinson and Colton Manning.

A memorial service will be held at 4PM, Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Charlie Krause will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grandin Court Baptist Church MAC Building Fund or to the American Heart Association.
