William "Bill" Wiley Roberts, of Salem Virginia, passed away on July 24th, 2026, at the young age of 95. He was more affectionately known to his grandbabies and those closest to him as Pop. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His love, kindness, and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him. Through his words of wisdom, his unwavering support, and a lifetime of laughs shared together, he created memories that will be treasured forever.

Pop was also deeply devoted to his love and faith in his God, Jehovah. He found some of his greatest joys in life in the time he spent speaking to others about his faith and hope in the promises of the Bible.

He is survived by his loving only daughter, Billie Jo Firebaugh (David Firebaugh); his cherished grandbabies: Barry "BG" Underwood (Lyndia Garman), James "Mitch" Hampton, Makenzie Hampton, Charles "Chase" Roberts (Jennifer Roberts), and Aja Roberts.

Throughout his life, he was blessed with the love of two devoted wives, Josie Roberts, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage, and Linda Roberts, with whom he shared the second part of his life for another beautiful 25 years. Both preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his beloved only son, Thomas "Cornell" Roberts.

To his family, he was more than just "Pop". He was a source of strength, laughter, and unconditional love. He leaves behind a legacy of tenderness, hard work, and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew him.

Whenever Pop is mentioned in conversation you can be assured a smile will crawl across the faces of whomever is reminiscing about him. His big personality was full of life, and he lived it brimming with enthusiasm and joy. He would share that energy wherever he went by reminding us all to "SMILE! Life's too short to not have a good time"

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in the promise of Revelation 21:4 where it states "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Until that time, we cling to our countless memories he gave us and the love he so freely shared. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of his life will be held on a later date to be announced.
