William (Ed) Mills, 85, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2011. Ed was owner and operator of Mills Petroleum Service, and his hobbies included fishing at Cape Hatteras and feeding the squirrels and birds at Greenhill Park from his little white truck. He also adored his cat, Elmo. Preceding him in death were his parents, Newton and Effie Mills; wife, Louise Mills; sisters, Suzie White and Lillian Leitch; and grandson, Matthew Neel. His surviving family includes his children, Cindy LaPradd, Kathy King and husband, Chuck, John Mills and wife, Tammy, Cheryl Campbell and husband, Pete, Robert Sessions and wife, Sharon, and Bonnie Mills; grandchildren, Jesse White, Ashley Olivet, Sarah-Dale Mills, Grace-Marie Mills, Rebekah-Lynn Mills, Kara Kyle, Shannon Cole, and Dusty Andrews; and many great-grandchildren. A period of visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Burial Park. Music will be provided by the Mills family.
