William Moir Bill Marshall, 86, of Salem, went to be with his Lord and his beloved wife Loni on August 31, 2015. Bill was born in Carroll County, Virginia on January 17, 1929.
His family includes his children, Christie Yates (Larry), Vickie Westmoreland (Roy), Billy Marshall (Carol), Boyd Shank (Sande); grandchildren, Zachary, Colby, Brian, Amanda, April, Marisa, Megan, Olivia, Marshall, and Aaron; all of whom treasure fond memories of their Pawpaw. He was also blessed with great grandsons, Carson, Matthew, Easton, and great-granddaughter, Maddie. Bills extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family he embraced at the Oaks of Richfield during the last six years. Their love and care for him is a debt that we can never repay.
Bill was a man of vision with an active, agile, creative mind. He worked for Graham White Manufacturing for many years and also established Salem Specialties Incorporated in 1965. The running of his business and a natural mechanical ingenuity kept him busy and very productive with inventions and patents. He was happiest when creating, building, and designing.
During his happy marriage with Loni, the two traveled extensively for both pleasure and purpose. They enjoyed many mission trips in the US and abroad. Bill paired his love of the outdoors with his travels; camping, fishing, and sightseeing with family and friends. He and Loni spent winters in Florida and thrilled their grandchildren with trips to Orlando.
Bill joined the Army Air Corps and served in the occupation of Okinawa before he married Loni in 1951. He raised his family in Salem, Virginia and was a member of Fort Lewis Baptist Church, as well as Gideons International.
Memorial services to honor Bills life will be conducted on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Lewis Baptist Church with Pastor Leonard L/Southern officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
In lieu for flowers, please consider a donation to the Gideons International or Feeding America Southwest Virginia.
