Wayne Shelor

Wayne Allen Shelor, 86, of Salem, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 16, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Houston and Irene Ridinger Shelor; brothers, Robert Jackson (Jack) Shelor and wife, Madeline, Frank Shelor and wife, Jean, Harvey Shelor, Harold Shelor and wife, Doris. Left to cherish his memory are former wife, Patsy Shelor; children, Leslie S. Whitman, Julie S. Richardson, Jennifer S. Lamberth, John W. Shelor, and all their spouses; brother, Sherman Lee Shelor and wife, Betty; grandchildren, Ashleigh Shelor, Connor Shelor, Davis Shelor, and Dylan Lamberth; sister-in-law, Hazel Shelor; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extend family. Wayne served as an Airman First Class in the Korean War and was honorably discharged February 27, 1955. He loved playing golf and the sport of horse racing. Wayne was an excellent athlete in many sports including golf, football, basketball, and tennis. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. with military honors at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, 540-389-5441.
