Wanda Sue Sisson Hale, 68, of Salem, surrendered her fight on January 22, 2014, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born on November 12, 1945 to the late Lewis Elmore and Ruby D. Sisson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, whom she was so looking forward to meeting. Wanda Sue was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother all her life, which she did with great love and grace. Her family will fondly remember her fighting spirit, her loving heart, and her desire to build and keep a close family, and will cherish those memories until we see her again. Family left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 48 years, Douglas N. Hale; son Brian D. Hale and wife Niki; daughter, Amy Hale Altice and husband Greg; granddaughters, Ashley Hale, Tori Wimmer and Maddy Angle; a very special grandson, Christian Haley; sister, Linda Kay Lipscomb and husband Bill; and two aunts, Edna Anderson and Norma Sisson. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Reverend Rodney Hale, and Sidney Hale and his wife Helen; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Walker and her husband Mike, and Sharon Doyle; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to a special nurse, Karen Trail, from the Crystal Springs Dialysis Center. Karen wasnt just a nurse, but a friend, and guided all of us through many a hard time. A special thank you to Dr. Evans, as well, for the fantastic care he has provided for the past four years. The family would also like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for all of their support and guidance. A funeral service will be held at 11AM, Saturday, January 25, 2014 in the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. Her brother-in-law, Reverend Rodney J. Hale will officiate. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
