Walter Ray 'Bubba' Goens

Walter Ray Bubba Goens, 65, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015. Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Goens. Left to mourn his passing is his loving partner of 23 years, Margaret Todd. He is also survived by two sons and their spouses, Charlie Lee and Jessica Goens and Walter Ray and Sueann Goens; and Margarets two daughters, Tammy Sizemore and Net Mills. Bubba was Paw-Paw to Kaylee, Kourtney, CJ, Heather, DJ, Emily, Morgan, and Ashlynn. Left also to cherish lifelong memories are two brothers, John and Bill Goens; two sisters, Betty Humphrey and Linda Crowder; his baby girl, Honey; five nephews; and one niece. Bubba will be sadly missed by all who loved him. The family thanks the hospice staff on the third floor of the Salem VA Medical Center for his care. A period of visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 in the funeral homes chapel with Pastor Ken Nienke officiating.
