Vivian W. Burcum, of Salem, went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 10, 2015.
She was born on January 9, 1926 in Roanoke County to the late James M. and Kate Stoutamire Wigginton. Vivian always said that she was Salem born, and Salem bred. She graduated from Andrew Lewis High School and looked forward to her class reunions. She was a devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for over 70 years and was involved in any ministry from teaching children to washing the dishes in the kitchen. She could make anything that was sewn, crocheted or quilted and enjoyed trying any other craft that caught her interest. She was a quiet and kind friend to everyone, and a very special blessing to her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William Bill Burcum, and her brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Anna Wigginton.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Bayse and husband Ropie of Salem; a son, Leon Burcum and wife Margie of Buford, GA; a grandson, Ryan Bayse and wife Kathy of Salem; great-grandson, Lincoln Bayse of Richmond, VA; a nephew, Jim Wigginton of Hilton Head Island, SC, and a niece, Celi Stoutamire of Salem.
Her family would like to take this opportunity to give special thanks to the staffs at the Oaks and the Rehab Center at Richfield for their love and care.
A graveside service will be held at 11AM, Thursday, August, 13, 2015 at Sherwood Memorial Park. Pastor Chris Mitchell will officiate. The family request that memorial contributions in her honor be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church 1923 E. Main St. Salem, VA 24153.
