Virginia K. Maxey

Virginia K. Maxey Virginia Katherine Rock Maxey, 98, of Salem, passed into the arms of her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 28, 2013. She was born in Lignite, VA, a daughter of the late Benton and Effie Persinger Rock, and was a long time and active member of the Salem Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dempsey H. Maxey, and a granddaughter, Kathy M. Guthrie. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Arnold; a son Donald H. Maxey; her sister, Josephine Jones; three grandchildren, Rev. Lloyd Arnold,Jr., Karen Duncan and Steven Arnold; and many great and great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Melvin H. Campbell will officiate. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM, Monday at the funeral home.
