Virginia Ruth Baldwin Hancock, 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of November 21, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Comer Baldwin; husband, Charles H. Hancock, Sr.; infant daughter, Patricia Louise; son, Charles, Jr.; sister, Mary Roberts; and brothers, Curtis and Edd Baldwin. She is survived by her brother, Rosser J. Baldwin; son, Joseph J. Hancock and his wife, JoAnn; daughters, Cheryl Martin and Audrey Boley and her husband, Jim; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Frankie Hancock McClellan. Virginia was born and raised in Pamplin, VA. She lived at her home in Salem, VA for 46 years. She was a member of West Salem Baptist Church. She retired from General Electric in 1989. Her family would like to thank some of the special friends and family who helped make it possible for Virginia to stay at home as long as she did: Tony Ayers, Butch Boley, Barry Thomas, Cathy Bates, Tami Lee, and Rachel. They would also like to thank Pheasant Ridge Memory Care and Roanoke Valley Hospice for their love and care for Virginia these last 5 months. A period of visitation will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
