Virginia Leonard Gobble

Virginia Leonard Gobble, 82, of Salem, VA passed away Monday, March 19, 2012. She was born September 2, 1929 in Mendota, VA, daughter of the late Walter C. and Macie Barker Leonard. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Charles Gobble. Mrs. Gobble worked in sales and was a member of Locust Grove United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Patricia and David Updike and Victoria Thompson; brother, Earl Leonard; half brother, Kenny Leonard; three grandchildren, Chad Owen and wife, Lesley, Zach Owen and wife, Stacey and Tina Wilson and husband, Charles; six great-grandchildren, Cam Owen, Luke Owen, Nick Owen, Reece Owen, Rex Owen and Damien Wilson. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Sherwood Memorial Park with Rev. Ben Lockhart officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mrs. Gobbles name to the American Cancer Society, South Atlantic Div., 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, VA 24018.
