Virginia Carol Emerson

Virginia Carol Emerson, 61, of Salem, passed away at her home and went to Heaven on Saturday, February 13, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, James C. Flint and Mary Ann Flint; and brothers, J.C. Flint and Mark C. Flint. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy R. Bryant; son, James A. Brooks; sisters, Rebecca Stanley and husband, Robert, of Roanoke County, Margaret Andrews, Anna McLaughlin, Linda Jarrell and husband, Garden of Mt. Airy, N.C., Joyce Flint, and Jimela Routon and husband, Danny, of Botetourt, Va.; stepsons, Richard Brooks and Jamie Brooks; and stepdaughter, Paula. She was devoted to her family, friends, and all her customers at The Pancake House on Apperson Drive. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends that she brought so much happiness and joy to. A period of visitation will held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service is to follow beginning at 2 p.m. with Pastor Steve Parker officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
