Violet Cannaday Moran, 91, of Franklin County, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Violet was born on in 1925 to Talmadge Cannaday and Lotti Akers Cannaday. She was married for 68 years to Arthur (Art) Moran Jr. who passed away in December 2014. Violet was an accomplished artist and homemaker and a beloved wife, mother and friend. She and Art were active members of their churches and communities in South Boston, Chase City, Lexington and Salem. Violet is survived by her sister, Grace Via; daughter, Sharon Moran Vaughan; son, James Kevin Moran; sons-in-law, Charles Vaughan and Timothy Nixon; and grandson, David Vaughan. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Salem Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Clark officiating.
