Violet Marie May Jenkins

Violet Marie May Jenkins, 93, of Check, VA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2014. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Everett and Willie May; her husband, Lewis H. Jenkins, Sr.; brothers, Frank and George May; sister, Arlene Witt; and son, Lewis Jenkins, Jr. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gale and Frank Greenway; brother and sister-in-law, Darden and Jean May; grandchildren, Tammy and Hank Bowen, Marlene Wertz, Robbie and Caren Bailey, Julie and John Paxton, Tracy and Tim Flint, Faith and Anthony Thompson, and Kevin and Candie Simmons; great-grandchildren, Jasmine Wertz, Brittany and Ace Harvey, Chyrell Wertz, Teonte Wright, Chase Bailey, Mikey Flint, Nikki Bailey, Camry Wertz, Jordon Bailey, and Kiarrea Thompson; and great-great-grandchildren, Riley Paxton and Kalin Paxton; a great-great-great-grandchild, Jaylean Walls; and several loved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 12 to 2 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will then begin at 2 p.m. with Pastor Randy McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow at Terrace View Baptist Church Cemetery in Forest, VA. Pallbearers will be Jerry May, George Blanks III, Gary Witt, Timmy Witt, Mark Mitchell, and Maurice Witt, Jr. The Jenkins family is being served by John M.
