Viola Peters Rippee

Viola P. Rippee, 92, of Salem, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 19, 2017. She was born in Starkey, VA, a daughter of the late Posey and Lena King Peters and had been an area resident most of her life. She retired from the Salem VA Medical Center following over 27 years of service, enjoyed traveling, flower gardening, word search puzzles and reading her Bible. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Rippee, and a daughter, Faye Luckado Clarkson. She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Hartman and husband Dan; two sons, Danny Leroy Rippee and wife Christine, and Robert Edward Rippee and wife Kay; two sisters, Mildred Wiseman and Pansy Richardson; a brother, Frank Peters and wife Joan; eleven grandchildren; numerous great, and great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. Pastor Billy Cox will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the funeral home.First Visitation
