Venice Catherine Otey

Venice Catherine Otey, 84, of Salem, VA passed away on Friday, October 22, 2010 from the loving arms of her family into Gods caring hands. She was born January 11, 1926 in Salem, VA daughter of the late William A. King and Willie Thomas Jones King. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Burley D. Otey; sisters, Clara Foley and Louise Keene; and a brother, Claude W. King. Mrs. Otey was a faithful employee for many years at Maid Bess. She is survived by daughter, Joyce Bousman and husband, Ray; four grandchildren, Chaz Bousman, Jason Bousman, Matthew Bousman and Mckaylia Sigmon; two great-grandchildren, Kelcie Bousman and Jason Ray (J.J.) Bousman, Jr; brothers, Calvin King, Joe King, John King and wife, Nancy; sisters, Evelyn Gordon and Jean Jones. Numerous Nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday, October 25, 2010 at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. 540-389-5441. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with Rev. Burton White officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
