Toby Lynn Smart

Mrs. Toby Lynn Smart of Salem, Virginia died at the age of 61 on Friday, August 14th from complications due to ovarian cancer. She died peacefully in her home supported by her husband, Ted Smart, and their children Michael Peterson and his wife Danielle Peterson; Sarah Smart-Sweet and granddaughter Lindsay Smart; Eddy Smart and his wife Lindsey Smart. Toby was part of a very large and loving family. She was daughter to Lynn Clousing and Betty Bouchee, step-daughter to Stan Colborn, oldest sister of 8 siblings, mother to three children, Gram to 5 grandchildren, and aunt to many special nieces and nephews. Toby was a Christ-follower who demonstrated unconditional love and selfless service in every aspect of her life. Whether she was serving as the registrar at LIFE Bible College, ministering at Word of Life Church, working at HSN, helping at Men Stans Restaurant, or leading her Dining and Nutrition team at Carilion, she cared for those around her in a way that pointed them toward Jesus. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Tobys life at Christian Life International Church in Salem, Virginia on Sunday, August 23rd at 5pm. The family invites those in attendance to share in a meal as this was one of Tobys favorite ways to show her love for others.
