Timothy Vascar Emick

Timothy V. Emick, 75, of Salem, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2021, surrounded by his family. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Annamary Emick; daughter, Stephanie Emick Boger; son, T.J. Emick, both of Salem; grandchildren, Alexis, Crayton, Gracie, Maddie, and Ruth; sister, Marybelle Bownas; brother, Mark Emick; as well as many nieces and nephews. Tim grew up in the Roanoke Valley, a town he loved and never left. He worked for Norfolk Southern Railway for 33 years and enjoyed being a basketball referee, cheering on Virginia Tech football, serving as a church leader for Colonial Avenue Baptist Church, and spending time with his grandchildren. Tim, "Papaw", will be dearly missed and always remembered. His kind and giving spirit will continue to be present in every act, thought, and decision we make. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 20, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, Salem. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow and will begin at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rescue Mission of Roanoke, Inc. or the American Heart Association.
