Thomas Lee Tommy Newcomb, 80, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 10, 2020, at his home.
He was born on June 26, 1940, to the late William and Buelah Newcomb in Buchanan, Va. Tommy was a hard worker and a true friend to those who knew him best. He retired after having faithfully served 25 years as a truck driver for Kroger. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing during his down time and loved spending time socializing and time with his church family. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all that knew him. He will be missed!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kermit Newcomb; sister, Ann Hensley; two daughters, Karen Jennings and Kimberly Newcomb; and his stepdaughter, Linda Barnett.
Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his wife of 36 years, Barbara Newcomb; son, Kevin Newcomb and fiance, Rhonda Twiggs; two stepdaughters, Pam Deisher and husband, Jimmy, and Anita Metz and husband, Tony; four grandchildren, Chad, Kyle, Geneva, and Cindy; and five great-grandchildren, Kara, Takia, Kian, Hunter, and Julian.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 14, 2020, at John M Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral services to honor Tommys life will be conducted on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke.
