Thaddice Kevin Dodson, 55, of Salem, VA passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012. He was born November 15, 1956 in Roanoke, VA. He was preceded in death by his father, Thaddice Green Dodson; and sister, Kaitlin Margot Buckley.
Mr. Dodson graduated from Andrew Lewis High School, served two tours of duty in the US Air Force reaching rank of Staff Sergeant. He then graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He formerly served as Software Engineer for CACI, Inc. and traveled the world and worked as a contractor for the US Navy. He also formerly worked as a Senior Account Executive for Altec Industries, was a small business owner and currently worked for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Durham, NC.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Patricia Wilkerson Buckley and Leo P. Buckley, Jr. of Salem; loving wife, Sallie Booker Dodson of Salem; sons, Tyler Kevin Dodson and Jesse Reed Dodson both of Salem; daughter, Blair Kayla Dodson of Charlottesville; brother, Patrick Sean Buckley of Salem; sisters, Pamela Kay Dodson of Roanoke and Megan Buckley Haught and husband, Matthew of Culpeper; and a number of beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Chapel of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home in Salem with Rev. Ken Nienke officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 pm and on Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm at John M. Oakey and Son. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the DAV or charity of choice that benefits local veterans.
