Texanna Herndon

Texanna Blankenship Herndon, 96, of Dry Hollar, Salem, VA, passed away peacefully and gained her angel wings on Monday, October 30, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born to the late Crockett and Minnie Stuart Blankenship on Saturday, April 23, 1927, in Branchville, SC. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, James Riley Edwards; second husband, Tindell C. Herndon; daughter, Brenda Sue Burris; brothers, Junior Blankenship, and Melvin Blankenship. Those left to cherish her memory include children, Betty Jo Dixon, Peggy Ann Hickson, James Robert Edwards, and Tina Christie Herndon; brothers, Mark Blankenship, Theodore Blankenship, Woody Blankenship; sister, Mary Jane Blankenship Milton; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; as well as several great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, with Pastor Clay Dalton officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 6 p.m. until the hour of the service. The interment will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Little Hope Cemetery in Elliston, VA.
