Tessie Jeanette Taylor

Tessie Jeanette Taylor, 98, of Salem, VA passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William Frederick Taylor. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara T. Stone and husband Oliver J. Stone, and Dorothy T. Richards and husband R. Jack Richards, Sr.; grandsons, William Tayor Stone and wife Amy, Robert Bassett Stone and wife Rachel and Rev. R. Jack Richards, Jr. and wife Angela; great-grandchildren, Ethan Sterling Stone and Jennifer Leigh Stone; brother, Elmo Clemons; and nieces and nephews. She was one of the oldest and lifelong members of Villa Heights Baptist Church, serving in many capacities of church related volunteer work. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma to her family and an inspiration to all she met. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 pm Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with Rev. R. Jack Richards, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
