Tammy Marie Salmon

Tammy Marie Salmon, 51, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 15, 2015.She was a graduate of Radford University, and worked for SunTrust Bank until her first son was born. She enjoyed gardening in her spare time, and also loved her involvement with her church. Her family, especially her children, is what made her life meaningful.Preceding her in death was her father, Dewey Spangler, Sr. Her surviving family includes her mother and stepfather, Joyce and Sonny Duncan; husband of 25 years, Michael Salmon; sons, Jacob and Benjamin Salmon; brother, Dewey Spangler, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.The family extends a sincere thanks to Dr. Fintel and Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their loving care.Periods of visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2015 in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2015, also in the chapel, with Rev. Dan Netting officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Burial Park in Roanoke.In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at 2840 Electric Rd # 106 in Roanoke, VA 24018.
