Sylvia Rigney Young
March 28, 1938 — May 2, 2017
Sylvia R. Young, 79, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
She was born in Martinsville, a daughter of the late Spain and Florence Parsons Rigney and had been a Salem area resident since 1961. She was employed as an academic records secretary at Roanoke College for many years, prior to retiring. She enjoyed family gatherings, talking on the phone, watching Christian TV programs, but mostly spending time with her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Keeling Young, and a daughter, Donna Y. Donohoo.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Barry Young, and Mark K. Young and wife Suzanne; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Friday, May 5, 2017 at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Roanoke where she was laid to rest with her loving husband.Service Information
