Sylvia Uvon Plank Boone

Sylvia Uvon Plank Boone, 71, of Salem, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023. She was born on June 7, 1952, in Morehead, Ky., daughter of the late Sam and Edna Conley Plank. Anyone that knew Sylvia would certainly testify to her love for people in general. Her personality and smile could light up the darkest of rooms. She enjoyed cooking and you may even find her dancing while singing one of her favorite songs, but her favorite pass time activity was simply enjoying time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren who were the apple of her eye. In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her brothers, Wilburn, Willis, Roger, Charles, Jackie, Wilford Ray, and Ervin Plank, and her sister, Patricia Ann Plank Fowler. Family remaining to cherish her memory includes her husband of 37 years, William Bill Boone; children, Laura Gray, Linda (John) Roupe, Lisa (Benny) Stamper, and bonus daughter, Melanie (Michael) Wray; brothers, Vincin (Madge) Plank, Addie (Heather) Plank, Curtis (Ollie) Plank, Jerry (Valerie) Plank, and Lonnie Plank; sister, Christine Wagner; grandchildren, Matthew Sexton, Bryan Stamper, William Kyle Stamper, Daniel Gray, and bonus granddaughter, Savanna Dyer; great-grandchildren, Addison, Briar, Hank, Anson, Kahlan, Lucas, Grayson, Livy, Kelsey, Hunter, Dillon, Madison, and Lilly. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 1 until 3 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, in Salem. A celebration of Sylvias life will begin directly after, starting at 3 p.m., in the funeral homes chapel, with the Rev. Ted Carroll officiating.
