A chapter complete, a page turned, a life well lived, a rest well earned. Susan Gail Vasquez (Floyd), of Salem VA passed away at her home on July 13, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. Susan was born in Huntington, WV on October 25th, 1960 to the late Leo Bryant Floyd and Phyllis Mae Floyd (Goodman). As a child, Sue lived an adventurous life, a free spirit with a fun-loving-sense of humor, which always made her the life of the party. Sue graduated from Huntington East High School, class of '79. In 1981, she joined the U.S. Army. While stationed in Hanau Germany, she met her husband, Frank. Several years were spent following the Army, living overseas, ultimately retiring to Roanoke, VA to be close to family. Sue loved animals, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. She served as our matriarch, confidant, beloved wife, mother and mimi (Grandma). Sue was preceded in death by her brother, Teddy Floyd of Natchez, MS, Sister in-law Jean Floyd of Pocomoke City, MD, and two very special friends Mike and Vicki VanValkenburg of Salem, VA. Sue is survived by her Husband Francisco G. Vasquez, Three daughters Angela, Lashaye and Rachel (Messer) and two sons Paul and Robert. Several beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, One Sister Cheryl Hineman of Proctorville, OH and four brothers Larry (Diane) Floyd of Carmel, IN, Roger (Dreama) Floyd of South Point, OH, Frank (Susan) Floyd of Roanoke, VA, Ronnie Floyd of Pocomoke City, MD and Sister in-law Teresa A. Floyd of Natchez, MS. Her extended family includes many special nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Susans name to Good Samaritan hospice, http://www.goodsamhospice.org/, Sue requested no services be held, but invite all to participate in a memorial hike on July 22, 2018 to McAfees Knob.
