Susan Rutrough Crawford

Susan Rutrough Crawford, 71, of Salem, Va., died on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, with family by her side. Susan was born in Roanoke, Va., on February 14, 1953, and from that day forward spread love to all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nancy Mitchell (Mitch) and Lewis Rutrough (Helen). Susan had a zest for life and all things fun, and especially enjoyed playing games with her loved ones and sharing stories and laughter her love language. She had a successful career as a businesswoman with a keen eye for design and beauty. Survivors include her treasured children, Brent Reedy (Julee), Whitney Burbage (Aaron), and Shawn Crawford (Kyra); her adored grandchildren, Preston Lochner, Bodhi Reedy, Maddox Burbage, Monica Burbage, Meia Burbage, Chole Crawford, and Laina Crawford; her beloved sisters, Sherry Kitts (Butch), Diane Randall (Johnny), and their children and grandchildren; and her special aunts, Mary Sue Reed, Phyllis Carden, Betty Shelor (Sherman), and Margie Evans. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2024, in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem, Va. A memorial service will then begin at 4 p.m. with Pastor Ken Nienke officiating. Inurnment will be conducted privately at Sherwood Memorial Park.
