Sue Hartley Valentine

Sue Hartley Valentine, 83, of Salem, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 18, 2022. She was born on Wednesday, February 22, 1939, to the late Ottis Merle Hartley and Thelma Hickman Hartley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Valentine, and her brother, James Paul Hartley. Left to cherish her memory include her nieces, Lesa Hartley MacAdam, and Tammy Hartley Nutter and her sister-in-law Wanda Lou Hartley. Sue graduated from Bridgewater College in 1962 and began her career in education. Sue loved to travel and visited many countries on most of the continents. She was an avid animal lover and would frequently pet sit for many of her friends. Sue enjoyed photography and was also a fan of both Winnie the Pooh and the Peanuts. Sue enjoyed her time delivering meals for the Meals on Wheels program. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, VA.
