Steve James Miller, III, 62, of Salem, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012. He was born in Roanoke, a son of the late Steve J. Miller, Jr. and Jean Mattice Miller and had been an area resident for most of his life. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having proudly served during the Vietnam War. Steve was employed as a truck driver for over 33 years at Kroger and Ruan and was a member of Teamsters Local 171, where he served as a shop steward, was on the executive board and most recently was on the contract negotiating committee. He was a long time member of Salem Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and was presently Sunday school recording secretary. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his loving wife, Ginger Miller; three sons, James Miller, Seth Miller and Eric Phelps; four daughters, Sarah Miller, Tessa Miller, Kimberly Evans and her husband Jeff, and Chanthu Rowles; two grandchildren, Caroline Evans and Grayson Joel Booze; two brothers, Dexter Miller and his wife Mary, Greg Miller and his wife Barbara; a sister, Stephanie Goh and her husband Hock-Soon, and a very special Mom, Fannie Sifers. A memorial service will be held at 11AM, Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Salem Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Presbyterian Church, 41 East Main St. Salem, VA 24153.
