Stanley Byrd Wingo, 87, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. He owned and operated Stans Automotive Hardware for 28 years, was a 50-year member of the Taylor Lodge #23 Scottish Rite of the Kazim Temple, and a faithful member of Greenhill Church of the Brethren. Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert S. and Jenny B. Wingo; His wife of 55 years, Garnet R. Wingo; son, Frank L. Rettinger, Jr.; and brothers, Ruel J. Wingo, Pete Wingo, and Warren Wingo. His surviving family includes his beloved granddaughter, Gina Johnson and husband, Kevin, who were also his sole care providers; daughter-in-law, Lois Rettinger; other grandchildren, Jeff Rettinger and wife, Bonnie, and Lora Frech; great-grandchildren, Amie Lou Bashur and husband, Dan, Holli Keller and husband, Kyle, Nichole Frech, and Nicholas Frech; 5 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and very special friends, B.C. Nicodemus and family as well as Wayne and Jean Garst. A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the funeral homes chapel. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. Shawn Tanner will officiate.
