Sidney W. (Tweddle) Ferguson, 69, of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Sid was born on December 17, 1942 in Narrows, VA. He grew up in Salem, but later moved to Richmond. He was a fireman for the Salem Fire Department in the early 60s, and continued as a voluntary fireman after moving to Richmond. Later, he formed his own company, Dominion Automatic Door Company, in Montpelier and retired in 2007. He and his wife moved back to Salem in 2010 to be closer to his family. He was predeceased by one sister, Sue Ferguson. He leaves to grieve his passing his parents, Harold and Lucille Weikle, Sr. of Salem; sister, Barbara Weikle of Salem; wife of 53 years, Katherine H. Ferguson of Salem; son, Timmy Ferguson and wife, Katie, of Gordonsville; daughter, Karen L. Dalton of Montpelier; grandsons, Hunter and Christian Ferguson of Gordonsville; granddaughter, Elizabeth Dalton of Montpelier; two twin great-grandsons, Caden and Colton Ronquest of Montpelier; loving brothers, Jerry Ferguson and wife, Nancy, of Salem, Harold Weikle, Jr. and wife, Karen, of Salem, and Sam Weikle and wife, Tammy, of Roanoke County; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Sid was known for his quick wit, lovable personality, and love for his family. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. The family would like to thank Dr. David Bauer and his staff for their kindness and support. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem with Rev. Roy Kanode officiating. A one-hour period of visitation will immediately follow.
