Shirley Anderson Tothill

Shirley Anderson Tothill, 79, of Salem and formerly of Wytheville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2011. She was a member and deacon of Melrose Baptist Church in Roanoke. Musically, she loved Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey. In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitching, her clown collection, and antiques. Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank and Aimee Anderson; brother, Bud Anderson; and sister, Barbara Anderson. Her surviving family includes her husband of 47 years, Hugh Pendleton Tothill; son, Richard H. Tothill and wife, Becky; granddaughter, Jessica Tothill; brothers, Dave Anderson and wife, Sue, and Kenneth Anderson and wife, Rosemary; sister, Betty Null and husband, Mike; and numerous other family members. A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Melrose Baptist Church in Roanoke with The Rev. Larry Sprouse officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Melrose Baptist Church Building Fund at 3520 Peters Creek Road in Roanoke, Virginia 24019.
